Photoperiodic lighting is a low intensity light used to simulate long days. Known as day-length extension, night interruption, night-break or mum lighting, this lighting triggers earlier flowering in long-day plants and delays flowering in short-day plants.
14'x14' spacing of Pure Flowering 200 Lamps, which have replaced TotalGrow's Night & Day Management Lights with double the previous coverage, approximately 8-10' above the crop. For best results, start the first bulb 5' in from a grow area edge and do not space more than 15' apart. Run lights for sufficient hours after sunset/before sunrise to achieve at least 14 hours of continuous lighting, or for 4+ hours in the middle of the night to reduce dark periods to less than 10 continuous hours. Contact us for recommendations specific to your application.
Use one Pure Flowering Lamp light bulb per ~800 sq ft of grow area. Ideal heights above crop canopies are approximately 2/3 of bulb spacing, e.g. 2' heights for 3' spacing or 1' heights for 1.5' spacing. Contact us for recommendations specific to your application.
Bedding plant propagation
We discovered that we can drastically reduce rooting times with TotalGrow™ Night & Day Management Lights for fuchsia, petunia, calibrachoa, verbena, bacopa and other crops – as little as 1/3 of the time compared to even high intensity HPS lighting with up to 98% power savings! We are also amazed by the coverage uniformity, utility savings and electrical infrastructure savings.

Boom lighting for flower intiation
The Night & Day bulbs are the perfect boom lights. I no longer waste time replacing burnt out bulbs or worrying about when a light failure will delay my production. The plants look great, and the costs are tiny for the area covered! I like knowing that all of the energy from the TotalGrow bulbs goes into the light plants need most, not wasted for human eye light.

Kalamazoo Specialty Plants:
Mum flowering control tests
TotalGrow™ Night & Day Management Light bulbs were very effective at controlling flowering times across a large collection of my mum varieties this fall. The lights will allow me to greatly reduce my power consumption compared to my existing HPS lights with better plant quality.

Wave petunia flower initiation
We have been extremely pleased with our Night & Day Management Lights. In addition to improving growth speeds and flowering times of our wave petunias, the uniformity of coverage, durability, and lower utility and installation costs of the lights are excellent. Greg Nowak, Owner
Pacific Ag Research:
Canola plant flowering
